Activity: Reacts with a 9-O-acetylated form of GD3 ganglioside expressed on 30-60%of peripheral blood T cells,monocytes, platelets,synovial fibroblasts and some cell lines.The T-cell subpopulations expressing CD60b (previously called CDw60)include cytotoxic T cells,T-helper cells,and IL-4-producing cells.The CD60b antigen is upregulated on naive (CD45RA +)T cells following stimulation,and coincides with the switch from CD45RA +to CD45RO +.CD60b may provide costimulatory signals for T cells.1-6 Recently it was found that CD34 +hematopoietic precursor cells are positive for CD60b.
