Monoclonal mouse anti-Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV)

These clones have been derived from the hybridization of Sp2/0 myeloma cells
with spleen cells of a Balb/c mice immunized with purified RSV virus, strain
Long
Specificity: Two clones out of this panel 8C5 and 9C5 we recommend for
immunoassay. In Western blot Mab 8C5 reacts with protein, having Mr 90 K, that
corresponds in mobility to protein G. Mab 9C5 specificity was determined by
competitive ELISA with Mab 131-2A and 92-11C (CDC,
Mab 8C5 and 9C5 have virus-neutralizing activity, 8C5 block RSV-target cells binding, 9C5 hampers the virus penetration into the cell.
Clone 8B10 can be used for detection of incomplete virus assembly. Antibodies of clone 8B10 are directed to N protein, which belongs to nucleoproteid complex of virus. Epitope of this antibody is very unstable. The Mab is failing to recognize the N-protein epitope of immature and destroyed virions, which indicates a conformation dependence of the 8B10 binding site. It reacts well only with mature virison with completely assembled nucelocapsids.

Application: Detection of RSV
Purification: Purified by chromatography on protein A Sepharose. Purity is
tested by electrophoresis.
Presentation: Each vial contains 1mg of antibodies with concentration mg/ml, in
PBS, pH 7.4, containing 0.1% of sodium azide as preservative. Store at 4 DEG C.
Material safety note: This product is sold as an antibody preparation for
research purpose only. Standard Laboratory Practices should be followed when
handling this material. Contains sodium azide (0.1%) as preservative. Although
the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when
handling this product.
