ANTIBODIES
(anti-Human and others as indicated)
RDI Division of Fitzgerald Industries Intl offers a wide line of antibodies. Since no one antibody works best for all applications (neutralization, blotting, histochemistry, ELISA, etc), we offer many different types of antibodies to help solve this problem. Please inquire for other applications or types of antibodies not listed below.
PRODUCT: -Goat anti-Alpha-Synuclein antibody
Cat. No. RDI-ASYNUCabG $346.50/0.25ml
-A goat antiserum to a synthetic peptide that corresponds to amino acids 116 -
131 of the C-terminus of the Parkinson disease Alpha-synuclein protein is
currently available. The Alpha-synuclein gene was discovered on chromosome 4
and is responsible for early-onset autosomal dominant Parkinson’s
disease. It is an abundant protein whose major site of expression is in the
nervous system. Human ALPHA-synuclein is also known to be a precursor of the
non- -amyloid component protein (NACP) of Alzheimer’s disease where one
of its fragments associates amyloid deposits.
-The function of this gene product is currently unknown, but it is being
shown to be associated with other neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia
with Lewy bodies and multiple-system atrophy. This antiserum has been shown to
be immunoreactive to the ALPHA-synuclein immunizing peptide by ELISA.
Currently, this antibody has been shown to immunolabel Lewy bodies in Parkinson
brains using formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections. This antibody should
be a valuable tool for scientists who will be working to discover the function
of this protein in normal individuals and its role in Parkinson’s and
other neurodegenerative diseases.
