Reactivity: Reacts with a conformation sensitive epitope on the integrin
B1 chain. Clone 9EG7 has been shown to inhibit A6B1 mediated binding of
lymphocytes to endotheliaL CELLS AND ADHESION MEDIATED BY ACTIVATED, BUT
NOT UNACTIVATED A4B1 integrin. -Reacts with the 120Kd integrin B1 chain expressed
on the celll surface as a heterodimeric complex with one of several different
alpha chains and thus had broad tissue distribution.
Uses: flow cytometry (<2ug/1M cells), immunoprecipitation, histochemical
(frozen sections), function blocking studies.

Reactivity: Reacts with a cryptic epitope in the 120Kd integrin B chain,
which is expressed on the cell surface as aheterodimeric complex with one
of several different alpha chains and thus has a broad tissue distribution.
The epitope recognized by this clone is not well exposed in most cell surface
expressed forms as in the denatured molecule or intracellular forms. That
is, experimentally, the epitope can be detected by immunoblot in unreduced
extracts from a variety of cells and tissues having a number of different
B1 heterodimer combinations. It is not, however, accessible on the surface
of the majority of lymphohematopoietic cells, but is accessible on the surface
of fetal liver cells, some bone marrow stromal cells and a variety of cultured
cell lines including BMS2 and PA6. This clone recognizes a different epitope
from clone 9EG7.
Uses: western blot on unreduced cell lysates (the epitope is lost upon sulfhydryl
reduction of the antigen). Also may be used in immunoprecipitation,
immunohistochemical staining of acetone-fixed frozen sections (not paraffin
sections) and flow cytometry (with cells that display this epitope on the
surface)

Activity: reacts with the 130kDa integrin B1 subunit (CD29). The antibody
is specific for rat and mouse CD29. It has been reported that this clone
can block the adhesion of cells expressing CD29 extracellular matrix proteins
and inhibit proliferative responses of splenic T cells to anti-CD3E and allogenic
cells. Clone HMB1-1 and HA 2/5 compete for binding to CD29.
