Antigen: NAMRU mouse derived normal mammary gland epithelial cell line NMuMG.

Purification: Purified from ascites

Reactivity: Reacts with mouse plasma cells (syndecan-1,CD138). This antibody reacts with the core protein of syndecan-1, cell surface integral membrane heparin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate containing proteoglycan that binds to interstitial extracellular matrix molecules. The predominant location of syndecan-1 is on epithelial cells where its expression correates with normal epithelial orgnization. It is also expressed on B lymphocytes at specific stages in their differentiation, being found on precursor B cells in the bone marrow but not on mature B cells and it has been reported to be a specific marker of antibody secreting cells (plasma cells). It is thus implicated in mediating B cell matrix interactions. Syndecan-1 expression is also regulated during embryonic development and the molecule shows a tissue-specific structural polymorphism resultg from different post-translational modifications. This clone may be used to detect different glycosylated forms since it reacts with the core protein.


USE: -flow cytometry (approx 1ug/1 million cells) (due to low expression, it is recommended to use a biotinylated second step antibodyy along with Streptavidin-PE)
