Activity: This monoclonal reacts with the alpha chain of the IL-3 receptor. IL-3RA is a 60-70 kda tyep I transmembrane glycoprotein thta binds with low affinity but cannot transduce signals by itself. IL-3Ra can comlex with either of two homologues of CDw131,Bc(or AIC2B) and BIl-3 (Or AIC2A) to form high-affinity heterodimeric IL-3 receptors. Bc is the common Beta chain that can complex with the alpha chains ofIL-3R (CD123), IL-5R(CD125) and GM- CSFR (CD116) to form high-affinity receptors. BIL-3 can form high affinity interleukin receptor complexes with only IL-3RA. BIL-3 alone is specific for mouse IL-3 and binds with low affinity. The clone 5B11 Mab does not block the binding of IL-3 protein to the high affinity IL-3 receptor heterodimer.

Application: Indirect immunofluorescence cell surface staining. (<1ug/1 million cells) (since the antigen is expressed at low density on cell surfaces, it may be desirable to amplify staining with the purified antibody by using a biotinylated second-step anti-rat IgG antibody followed by a bright thrid step reagent as Strepatvidin-PE
