ANTIBODIES
(anti-Human and others as indicated)
RDI Division of Fitzgerald Industries Intl offers a wide line of antibodies. Since no one antibody works best for all applications (neutralization, blotting, histochemistry, ELISA, etc), we offer many different types of antibodies to help solve this problem. Please inquire for other applications or types of antibodies not listed below.

Background: S-100 protein derived from brain tissue is an acidic calcium-binding protein with molecular weight of about 21kda. In human brain tissue, S-100 protein is mainly presented by two isoforms, a Beta-Beta(BB) homodimer or S-100b and an Alpha-Beta (AB) heterodimer or S-100a. Becasue of its predomiant location in astrological cells, S-100 protein can be used as a sensitive and reliable marker for central nervous system injury. Structural damage of glial cells causes leakage of S-100 protein into extracellular matrix and into cerebrospinal fluid, further releasing into the bloodstream. Measurements of S-100 protein in patient serum samples may eb useful in monitoring of traumatic brain injury, ischemic brain damage after circulatory arrests, in diagnosis and prognosis of clinical outcome in acute stroke.
Warning: Prepared from human tissue; As no method can assure complete non-infectivity, material should be handled under Biosafety Level II (CDC) condition and treated as if capable of transmitting infection.

approx 1:100-1:200 60 minutes RT
Positive Control melanoma or Schwannoma
Localization: Cytoplasmic
Background: Recognizes proteins of 21-24kDa, identified as the A & B
subunits of S100 protein. S100 belongs to the family of calcium binding
proteins such as calmodulin and trop0onin C. S100A is composed of an
alpha and beta chain whereas S100B is composed of two beta chains.
Antibody to S100 stains Schwnnomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, almost all
benign and malignant melanomas and their metasases. S100 protein is also
expressed in the antigen presenting cells such as the Langerhans cells in skin
and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes. The
diagnosis of Histocytosis X is confirmed by S100 staining. S100 protein is
highly soluble and may be eluted from frozen tissue during staining.
Storage: 2-8 deg c

Background: The S100 multigene family consists of a number of small dimeric molecules around 100 residues in length. The original mmbers of this family, S100alpha and S100Beta were initially identified in bovine brain. S100P is a novel member of this family ehich was isolated from human placenta. The S100 family consists of at least 10 members which show a cell-type-specific expression pattern. Most S100 proteins are believed to be involved in cytoplasmic Ca+ control. S100P consists of 95 amino acids and shares about 50% sequence identity with S100alpha and S100Beta. Like other S100 proteins, S100P functions as a homodimer and binds to Ca2+ ions per monomer. Each S100P molecule contains botha low affinity and a high affinity Ca2+ binding site.
Antigen: derived from human S100P
isotype: mIgG1
