RDI Divison of Fitzgerald Industries Intl  offers a wide line of  antibodies. Since no one antibody works best for all applications (neutralization, blotting, ELISA, etc), we offer many different types of antibodies to help solve this problem. Please inquire for other applications or types of antibodies not listed below.


ANTI-OXYTOCIN & Oxytocin Receptor

Presentation: 100ul neat rabbit sera (no preservative)

IMMUNOGEN: Synthetic oxytocin (Sigma) conjugated to thyroglobulin.

SPECIFICITY: Oxytocin. Less than 1% cross-reactivity with arginine vasopressin.

SPECIES  REACTIVITIES: Human, rat, mouse, sheep and rabbit.

APPLICATIONS: -Immunohistochemistry: 1:5,000-1:10,000 (18-24 hour incubation) on formalin, Bouin’s or Zamboni’s fixed tissue. Will react on paraffin embedded tissue.

                              -Immunocytochemistry: 1:10,000 on fetal rat neurons.

                              -Immunoblotting: 1:1,000

                               -RIA

        Optimal working dilutions must be determined by   the end user.

STORAGE/HANDLING: Store at -20°C in undiluted aliquots for up to 12 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. At first thaw, tighten cap, centrifughe 1-2 minutes at 1000 RPM to concentrate antibody in vial.

Rabbit anti-Rat Oxytocin Receptor LYOPHILIZED   (IgG fraction)

Presentation: 100ug affinity pure antibody (lyophilized from 1mg/ml PBS stock with 0.2% BSA and 0.05% sodium azide).

Reconstitution: Add 100ul sterile DI water, let set at least 30 minutes at 4 DEG C. Gently mix well. If desired, centrifuge 1-2 minutes at 1000 rpmn to concentrate material in vial.

Purification: peptide affinity purified.

Antigen: A 20 amino acid peptide sequence within the carboxy terminus (cytoplasmic) domain of rat origin coupled to KLH


Reconstitution: All peptide/antibody received in solution or reconstituted from Lyophilized vials should be stored frozen at -20oC or below in suitable aliquots. It is not recommended to store diluted solutions. Avoid repeated freeze and thaw.

           Histochemistry & Immunofluorescence:Not tested:We recommend the testing of affinity purified antibody at 2-20ug/ml on acetone fixed frozen or PFA fixed and permeabilized tissue.

Background: The hypothalamic Oxytocin (OT) is a nine-amino acid peptide, which exerts multiple biological actions as a hormone and as neurotransmitter. OT stimulates uterine smooth muscle and mammary myoepithelial cell contraction, prostaglandin production by uterine endometrial and amnion cells, milk ejaculation from the mammary gland, and induction of specific mating behavior and maternal behaviors. Just before the onset of labor, uterine myometrium becomes extremely sensitive to oxytocin, for which it is a primary target tissue, because of a dramatic increase in the number of oxytocin receptors. OT initiates its physiological activity by interacting with the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) known as oxytocin receptor (OTR).The encoded receptor is a 388-amino-acid polypeptide with 7 transmembrane domains typical of G protein-coupled receptors. Messenger RNAs for the receptor are of two sizes, 3.6 kilobases in breast, and 4.4 kilobases in ovary, uterine endometrium and myometrium. The mRNA level in the myometrium is very high at term.

Control peptides are lyophilized from 1 mg/ml solution (100 µg/100 µl) in PBS +0.05% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 100ul DI water, let set at least 30 minutes, mix gently. Generally titer antibody to maximum usable dilution and then pretreat antibody with 5-10X weight of peptide for 2-3 hours RT or overnight 4 DEG C, then proceed with staining.
