RDI Divison of Fitzgerald Industries Intl  offers a wide line of  antibodies. Form and Storage: 100 ul of ascites diluted in PBS. Sodium Azide 0.05%. Store at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

derivation: produced using the anti-idiotypic method. The hybridoma from which this antibody was produced is the product of a fusion between P3X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells and spleen cells from Balb/c mice immunized with aldosterone-3 coupled to BSA.

Specificity: Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent, intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone. Mineralocorticoids are a family of steroids, secreted by the adrenal cortex, necessary for the regulation of a number of metabolic processes including electrolyte regulation. These compounds exert their effect through their interaction with the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) and that complex's subsequent association with DNA. Given the function of mineralocorticoids, it is not surprising to find that the kidney is a primary target organ for mineralocorticoids and that this organ has been shown to contain MR.

THis Mab recognizes MR in human, rat, rabbit and chicken tissues in which MR is expressed. This antibody blocks the binding of aldosterone since it is directed against the steroid binding domain of the mineralocorticoid receptor.

By Western blot (approx 1:250 with enhanced chemiluminescence detection)

-this antibody detects a band at 116 kDa representing MR. In immunohistochemical studies, staining is blocked by pre-incubating the sample with aldosterone. It can also be used in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections. Due to the extremely low levels of MR expressed in native tissues, it is recommended that enhanced detection systems be used for Western Blotting such as enhanced chemiluminescence.

*Various assay conditions require that the optimal working concentrations be determined by serial dilution of this product.
