Rabbit anti-Insulin Receptor BETA Chain:

Background: The IGF-1 receptor is responsible for the growth effects of both IGF-1 and IGF-II and is structurally and functionally similar to the insulin receptor. Both receptors are 350 kDa glycoproteins composed of two extracellular alpha subunits and two transmembrane Beta subunits. The cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinases are activated by ligand binding to the extracellular domains of the receptors. Kinase activation in turn stimulates an intracellular cascade of molecular interactions involving multiple effects of IGFs and insulin. Insulin effects metabolic effects such as increases in glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis, whereas IGFs are more potent stimulators of mitogenic activity. However in cells that express both insulin and IGF receptors, a certain degree of overlap in these biological activities is observed.

Derivation: Produced in rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 365-1382 mapping at the carboxy terminus of the insulin receptor beta chain of human origin (differs from the corresponding mouse sequence by a single amino acid) Affinity purified.

Presentation: Each vial contains 200ug IgG in 1.0ml 0.05M PBS with 0.2% gelatin and 0.1% sodium azide.

Specificity: Specifically recognizes the insulin receptor beta chain of mouse, rat and human origin by western blot and immunohistochemistry, non reactive with the Insulin receptor alpha chain.

Storage: STORE at 4 DEG C-DO NOT FREEZE. Stable for one year from date of shipment.

-use by first titering antibody to minimal amount needed, then use a 10X weight excess of peptide antigen in PBS, preincubate 2 hours at room tempor overnight at 4 DEG C with antibody. Then proceed with test.
