Since no one antibody works best for all applications (neutralization, blotting, histochemistry, ELISA, etc), we offer many different types of antibodies to help solve this problem. Rabbit Polyclonal Antisera To:  N-Terminal Human Insulin Receptor B (HIR-B) Encoded by Exon 11

Immunizing Antigen: CBL peptide-12 represents residues 717-728 from the C-terminal region of HIR-A linked to KLH.

Purification Method: Antisera were purified by affinity chromatography on a Protein A Sepharose CL4B c column.

Specificity: The sequence specific polyclonal antisera is directed toward the N-terminal amino acid sequence encoded by exon 11,this results in inhibition of insulin binding to HIR-B form without affecting HIR-A binding.

Applications: *Radio-immunoassay for the isoforms of the human insulin receptor

                     *Studies of the C-terminal domain of HIR-B a - subunit variant as a specific immunogenic site.

                     *The antisera to CBL peptide-12 linearises the Scatchard plot of binding data with a concomitant slowing of                         the dissociation rate of insulin suggesting that the antisera stabilizes alternative conformational configurations of                      the receptors. Thus the antibody   is a valuable tool in studies of conformational changes associated with insulin                      binding to its receptor and the initiation of the biological response to the hormone.
