Source material: Human serum/plasma.

Product presentation: Supplied lyophilised from 0.02M NH4HCO3. May contain traces of buffer salts. The use of a buffered solution containing physiological levels of saline may aid complete dispersion of the product upon reconstitution.

Specification: >96% Purity.

Analysis: Cellulose acetate electrophoresis shows one band only, with, as expected, higher electrophoretic mobility than albumin.
SDS-PAGE confirms prealbumin as the major component. Molecular weight of prealbumin approx. 60,000 (tetramer). Under certain conditions dimer and monomer sub units can be seen.

Quantitative (and qualitative) analysis by radial immunodiffusion (RID).

Protein determination by the method of Lowry 280nm and OD = 1.4. 1cm, 0.1%

Disease state testing: Serum/plasma is donor tested and found negative for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies, Hepatitis B surface antigen and HCV antibodies.

Storage: 2 - 8oC. Shelf life minimum 2 years.

Product presentation: Single homogenous batch liquid in 0.05M Sodium Phosphate buffer pH7.5, containing 0.15M NaCl and 0.09% Sodium Azide. Sterile filtered through a 0.2mM membrane.

Purity: Nominally greater than 99% of the total protein as determined by Lowry assay is Prealbumin.

Starting material: Normal human serum/plasma. Starting material donor tested and certified negative for HIV I & II antibodies, Hepatitis B surface antigen, and Hepatitis C antibodies.

Storage: Store at 2-8*C, shelf life minimum 1 year.

Analysis Results

SDS-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis. One band corresponding to tetramer Prealbumin molecularweight.

Cellulose Acetate Electrophoretic. Single band only visible corresponding to Prealbumin electrophoretic mobility.

Optical density using E280nm = 1.40. 1cm 5.86 mg/ml.

Protein concentration asdetermined by Lowry method. Results consistent with optical density data.

Radial immunodiffusion assay vs Behring standard. Confirms identity and verifies dispensing solution.
