Source material: Human serum/plasma.
Product presentation: Supplied lyophilised from 0.02M NH4HCO3. May contain traces of buffer salts. The use of a buffered
solution containing physiological levels of saline may aid complete dispersion
of the product upon reconstitution.
Specification: > 99% Purity.
Purified to a level where no contaminating proteins can be detected using a
range of analytical techniques.
Analysis: Cellulose acetate electrophoresis shows one band only, indicating Alpha electrophoretic mobility.
SDS-PAGE shows one band only, corresponding to a molecular weight of approx. 150,000.
Quantitative (and qualitative) analysis by radial immunodiffusion (RID). Levels of IgA and IgM <0.1%.
Protein determination by the method of Lowry and OD 280nm = 1.38. 1cm,0.1%
Immunoelectrophoresis versus anti-whole human serum shows one species only, identified as IgG.
RID shows IgA and IgM to be undetectable. Lower limit for detection equivalent to 0.1% of total protein.
Disease state testing: Serum/plasma is donor tested and found negative for HIV 1 and 2 antibodies, Hepatitis B surface antigen and HCV antibodies.
Storage: 2 - 8oC.
