Human Cytokine/Growth Factor/Chemokines Sample Spec sheets (subject to change without notice):
DATA SHEET: RECOMBINANT HUMAN Galectin-3
Lectins, of either plant or animal origin, are carbohydrate binding proteins that interact with glycoprotein and glycolipids on the surface of animal cells. The Galectins are lectins that recognize and interact with beta-galactoside moieties. Galactin-3 regulates a number of biological processes, including embryogenesis, inflammatory responses, cell progression and metastasis. Galectin-3 is normally expressed in epithelia of a variety of tissues, including colon and endometrium, and in various inflammatory cells, including macrophages. Galectin-3 can function intracellularly, in controlling cell cycle and preventing T-cell apoptosis, and also extracellularly, in activating various cells, including monocytes/macrophages, mast cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. Expression of Galectin-3 is affected by neoplastic transformation, being up-regulated in certain types of lymphomas, and in thyroid and hepatic carcinomas. Conversely, it is down-regulated in other cancers, such as colon, breast, ovarian, and uterine. This recombinant Galectin-3 is a globular 26.0kDa protein containing 250 amino acid residues, but no disulfide bonds
Catalog#: RDI-4538
Package Size: 50 micrograms $258.50
MINI-PACK cat#RDI-4538p $104.00/5ug
Supplied: The sterile filtered solution was lyophilized from PBS pH7.2 (no
carrier)
Source: E. Coli
Purity: Greater than 97% by SDS-PAGE. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per
µg (1EU/µg).
Reconstitution: The lyophilized powder is soluble in water and most aqueous
buffers. The lyophilized powder should be reconstituted in water or to a
concentration of 0.1-1mg/ml. Allow to set at least 30 minutes at 4 DEG C,
tighten cap and rotate to reconstitute any material on sides of vial. If
desired, you can centrifuge at 1000 rpm for 1 minute to concentrate volume in
bottom of vial. This solution can be diluted into water or other buffered
solutions or stored at 4 DEG C for up to 1 week or at -20 DEG C for future use.
Note:If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling(or other applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA to any further dilution buffers or further dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to nhance stability and minimize absorption to vial. Maintain stock >10ug/ml.
Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature for a few weeks but it is best stored desiccated at -20 Deg C. Reconstituted human galectin-3 should be stored in working aliquots at -20 DEG C. AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.
Reactivity: Determined by its ability to chemoattract human blood monocytes. Chemotactic activity was observed at a concnetration of 2.5ug/ml with a peak response obtained at 250ug/ml.
