-RELM-alpha belongs to a unique family of tissue-specific cytokines termed
FIZZ (found in inflammatory zone) and RELM. The three known members of this
family; Resistin, RELM-alpha and RELM-beta are 85-94 amino acid secreted
proteins sharing a conserved C-terminal domain characterized by 10 cysteine
residues with a unique spacing motif of
C-X11-C-X8-C-X-C-X3-C-X10-C-X-C-X-C-X9-C-C. RELM-alpha and Resistin are secreted
exclusively by adipocytes while RELM-beta is expressed in the epithelium
of the colon and small bowel. The physiological role and molecular targets
of RELM-alpha re still unknown. This recombinant murine RELM-alpha is a 10.0
kDa monomeric protein containing 88 amino acid residues.

Purity: Greater than 97% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per µg (1EU/µg).
Reconstitution: We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in 10mM Tris pH7.4 or sterile DI water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Allow to set at least 30 minutes at 4 DEG C, tighten cap and rotate to reconstitute any material on sides of vial. If desired, you can centrifuge at 1000 rpm for 1 minute to concentrate volume in bottom of vial. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions containing carrier protein or medium containing serum and stored at 4 DEG C (up to 1 week) or -20 DEG C long term)
Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature for a few weeks but it is best stored desiccated at -20 Deg C. Reconstituted RELM-ALPHA should be stored in working aliquots at -20 DEG C . AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.
