Recombinant Murine Interleukin-12
-Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is a regulatory protein produced by activated B
lymphocytes and macrophages. The biological activities of IL-12 include the
stimulation of growth of activated CD4 and CD8+T cells and NK cells. Human
IL-12 also promotes the development of proinflammatory/ Th1-like CD4+ cells and
cytotoxic CD8 T cells. Murine IL-12 is a disulfide linked heterodimeric protein
with a molecular weight of 70 kDa comprised of disulfide-bonded 35 kDa (p35)
and 40 kDa (p40) subunits.

Purity: Greater than 98% by SDS-PAGE. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per
ug of IL-12.
Formulation: Lyophilized from PBS pH 6.3 (stock 0.3mg/ml).
Reconstitution: The lyophilized murine IL-12 is soluble in water and most
aqueous buffers. Recommend reconstituting with 1X PBS pH6.3-6.5 to a
concentration of greater than 200ug/ml. Allow to set at least 30 minutes 4 DEG
C. If desired, centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000rpm to concentrate material in
vial. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutionsand store 4 DEG
C for up to 1 week or stored at -20 DEG C for future use.
Note:If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling (or other
applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA or
dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to enhance stability and
minimize absorption to vial.
Stability: The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for a few
weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20 DEG C. Reconstituted murine IL-12
should be stored in working aliquots at -20'C.
Activity: The ED(50) as determined by the stimulation of IFN-gamma production
by murine splenocytes co-stimulated with IL-12 is less than 0.1mg/ml,
corresponding to a specific activity of greater than 10 M units/mg.
