Murine/Rat Cytokine/Growth Factor/Chemokines Sample Spec sheets (subject to change without notice):
IL-1alpha is a non-secreted proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes and other epithelial cells. Both IL-1alpha and IL-1beta binds to the same receptor and has similar if not identical biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including, stimulation of thymocyte proliferation, by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity and the ability to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. However, whereas IL-1beta is a secreted cytokine, IL-1alpha is predominantly a cell-associated cytokine. This recombinant murine IL-1alpha is an 17.9 kDa protein containing 156 amino acid residues.

Supplied: Lyophilized powder from 1mM Tris buffer solution.
Source: E. Coli
Purity: >98% by SDS-Page analysis and HPLC analyses. Endotoxin level is
less than 0.1 ng per ug of IL-1A.
Reconstitution: The lyophilized IL-1A is soluble most aqueous buffers. The
lyophilized powder can be reconstituted in water to a concentration of
0.1-1mg/ml. Allow to set at least 30 minutes at 4 DEG C, mix well. If desired
centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000 rpm to concentrate material in vial. This
solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions and stored at 4 DEG
C for up to 1 week or stored at -20 DEG C for future use. For most in-vitro
applications, IL-1A exerts its biological activity in the range of 0.1 to
10.0 ng/ml.
Note:If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling (or other applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA to dilution buffers or dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to enhance stability and minimize absorption to vial. Ideally, maintain stock >10ug/ml.
Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable for a few weeks at room temperature but it is best stored desiccated at -20 DEG C . Reconstituted IL-1A should be stored in working aliquots at -20 DEG C. AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.
Reactivity: The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of murine D10S cells is <0.002ng/ml which yields a specific activity of > 5 X 10 E08 units/mg.
