-Interleukin-10 (IL-10), originally known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF) is an 18.7 kDa protein of 160 amino acids that shares over 80% sequence homology with the Epstein-Barr Virus protein BCRFI. Th reported biological activities of IL-10, which may be inter-related, include inhibition of macrophage mediated cytokine synthesis, suppression of the delayed hypersensitivityresponse, and stimulation of the TH2 cell response which results in elevated antibody production.

Reconstitution: The lyophilized IL-10 should be reconstituted in 3mM Tris
pH 8.0 to a concentration of 0.1-1mg/ml. Allow to set for at least 30 minutes
at 4 DEG C, Mix well. If desired, centrifuge for 1 minute at 1000rpm to
concentrate material in vial. This solution can be diluted into other buffered
solutionsand store 4 DEG C for up to 1 week or stored at -20 DEG C for future
use. For most in-vitro applications, IL-10 exerts its biological activity
in the range of 0.2 to 20.0 ng/ml.
Note:If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling (or other
applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA to
dilution buffers or dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to enhance
stability and minimize absorption to vial. Ideally, maintain stock
>10ug/ml.
Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature but it is best
stored desiccated below 0 Deg C. Reconstituted IL-10 should be stored in
working aliquots at -20DEG C. AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.
Reactivity: This product is fully biologically active as measured by the dose dependent co-stimulation (with murine IL-4) of MC-9 cells. The ED50 was found to be 2 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 500K units/mg.
