-Interleukin-13 is an immunoregulatory protein secreted predominantly by activated Th2 cells. It plays a key mediator in the pathogenesis of allergic inflammation and contributes to airway hyper-reactivity. A variant of IL-13 shows enhanced functional activity compared with the wild type IL-13(Q130). This genetic variant, termed IL-13 analog, is a mature 114 amino acid protein with a substitution of Q for R at position 112.

Supplied: Lyophilized powder from 10mM Sodium Citrate pH4.0 with no additives.
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Source: E. Coli
Purity: >98% by SDS-Page analysis
Reconstitution: At first use, tighten cap and gently tap on solid surface
or quick spin 30 seconds 1000rpm to concentrate any material in bottom of
vial. Carefully open top. Lyophilized IL-13 analog should be reconstituted
in sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1mg/ml. Allow to set at least
30 minutes at 4 DEG C, mix well. If desired, centrifuge 1 minute 1000rpm
to concentrate material in vial. This solution can be diluted into other
buffered solutions or stored at 4 DEG C for up to 1 week or at -20 DEG C
for future use.
Note:If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling (or other applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA to dilution buffers or dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to enhance stability and minimize absorption to vial. Ideally, maintain stock >10ug/ml.
Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature for a few weeks but it is best stored desiccated at -20 Deg C. Reconstituted IL-13A should be stored in working aliquots at -20DEG C. AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.
Reactivity: This IL-13 analog shows a two fold increase, relative to wild type IL-13, in bioactivity as measured by the in vitro dose dependent activation of STAT6 and IL-13 dependent gene induction in transfected A201.1 cells. This analog has also been shown to exhibit increased in vivo activity compared to wild type IL-13, as measured by the induction of airway hyper-responsiveness.
