Background:P450scc enzyme is the rate limiting enzyme controlling
steroidogenesis. P450scc is responsible for the conversion of cholesterol to
pregnenolone. The enzyme is expressed in all tissues capable of steroidogenesis,
including the ovary, adrenal, testis, placenta and glial cells.
